Following a remix from Thakzin, West African collective LAGOS IN PARIS hands its Afraw sound to French house maestro Folamour to remix their iconic track “Mali Spirit”. French DJ and producer Folamour has established himself as one of the pioneers of the French house revival. This remix acts as a bridge between the dance floor and the heart, a perfect meeting point between the vibrant Afraw energy of LAGOS IN PARIS and the soulful French groove of Folamour.
Acclaimed by international press (Colors, Trace, BBC Radio, Rinse, RFI, etc.), the original version and the music video for “Mali Spirit” pay tribute to the “Bolo super,” a traditional 18th-century dance that originated between Ivory Coast and Liberia and is still practised by the Kroumen tribe. This ritual is embodied on screen by the performance of a couple of dancers, like a dialogue between heritage and the present.
Creators of a sound they define as “Afraw,” LAGOS IN PARIS embody the a combination of African roots and digital modernity. Their music blends percussion and organic instruments with electronic textures, building bridges between West Africa and Europe, as reflected in their latest eponymous EP. They fuse influences from Afrobeats, dancehall, funk, disco, and reggae with elements of house, amapiano, and techno.
LAGOS IN PARIS and Folamour share common values: unity, tolerance, sharing, and freedom. With over 170 million streams and hundreds of dates (including prestigious festivals such as Coachella, Tomorrowland, Glastonbury, etc.), Folamour has established himself as one of the leading figures on the international French electronic music scene.
