Olayinka Owoseni, known by her stage name Yimeeka, recently released her
sophomore project, the self-titled EP “Yimeeka,” which delves deeper into her
musical palette by blending elements of Afrobeats, House, and Amapiano. This
emotionally charged six-track EP takes listeners on a poignant journey through
the phases of a faltering relationship, featuring collaborations with acclaimed
singer-producer Pheelz and emerging talents in House and Amapiano, D3an
and Smeez.
Yimeeka has been making waves in the music scene since her breakout in 2020,
and her latest release promises to showcase her evolving artistry. Her debut EP,
“Alter Ego,” released in 2022, received acclaim for its genre-spanning appeal and
showcased her versatility as a producer, songwriter, sound designer, and creative
director.
Her eponymous 2024 EP, Yimeeka, opens with “Omo Ayi,” a heartfelt tribute
from Yimeeka’s mother in their native Yoruba language, setting a heartfelt tone
for the emotional journey ahead. The EP’s standout tracks include “Destruction,”
a powerful exploration of raw emotions, and “In The Silence,” where Yimeeka
confronts psychological games in relationships. “Iro,” with its infectious House

Her collaboration with Pheelz on “Away” shifts perspectives within the EP,
offering a narrative from her lover’s viewpoint amid the unravelling relationship.
The EP culminates with the soul-stirring “Foolish,” where Yimeeka reflects on

experience.

airplay on prominent Nigerian radio stations. Additionally, her presence on
Spotify’s ‘Created by Women’ Songwriter spotlight playlist underscores her

performance at Tiwa Savage’s concert in Toronto and a collaboration with The
