Nigerian singer and songwriter DUÜWA has released his debut project, Act I: Playing With Fire, a significant milestone in a journey that began long before he ever stepped into a studio. Raised between Ojodu and Akute, DUÜWA’s earliest musical experiences came from playing drums in his church and later joining the LOUD Urban Choir, where he developed his voice and discovered his passion for songwriting.

The project arrives after years of personal growth, discipline, and quiet determination. According to DUÜWA, this moment represents the beginning of a dream he has nurtured since childhood – one supported by faith, family, and the community that helped shape him. Reflecting on the journey, he describes the path to this release as one filled with hard work, consistency, and emotional highs and lows.
Act I: Playing With Fire brings together the stories and feelings that have stayed with him along the way. The music is warm, introspective, and grounded in lived experience, offering listeners a glimpse into the heart of an artist who has taken his time to define his sound. The earlier singles “Freaknik” and “Misguided” introduced audiences to different shades of DUÜWA’s artistry, and the full project now completes that picture.
With this debut, DUÜWA opens the door to a new chapter in his career, one he hopes will mark the beginning of something much larger. Grateful for everyone who has supported him, he describes this release as both a personal victory and an invitation to listeners to join him as he grows.
